27 Nov 11 Things Change. It Can Be an Opportunity.

There you are, spending years of your life working hard for a company, putting money into your retirement, and just like that, it can feel like it has all just evaporated around you. If it’s been a long time since you had to worry about things like writing resumes, sending in job applications, writing cover letters, or doing interviews hoping to be the one candidate out of hundreds to land the job, going back into the employment pool can be frightening. But relax a little. It doesn’t have to be so bad. One of the most important things to keep in mind is that you have a lot more freedom and flexibility than you might initially think you have. So often people begin jobs right out of school and start climbing the career ladder and following a set path that is supposed to lead to a perfect middle age and eventual retirement. They never take a chance to look around before starting that climb, or even if they like the start of the climb just fine, by the time they get half way up that ladder, they forget to look around them and determine whether they even like the view from up there. Meanwhile, their life is quite simply ticking away. If you have lost your job, consider it an opportunity to look around, and choose your view.

Maybe you used to work in computers but now you want to work on cars or motorcycles. For people who really like to get their hands dirty and work with cars, motorcycles or other machinery or vehicles, motorcycle repair school is a great option. Or if you used to be a mechanic and now want to look at going to med school. Go for it. This is the time to look around and make any changes you want to make.
